The Spanish government has blocked plans set out by LaLiga to test players for coronavirus before returning to training.
The idea was to carry out these tests next Tuesday, allowing teams to resume training, accelerating preparations to complete the season.
However, according to El Mundo, Spain’s Ministry of Health has halted this process from happening and would rather analyse the situation before giving it the green light.
This is unlikely to affect clubs’ preparations in the coming weeks, with many of them planning on returning to training on either May 4 or May 11.
“There is an order from the [Ministry of] Health that explains how tests should be done,” said the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa.
“They have to be done under medical criteria, according to the order established by the health authorities.”
