A woman has sparked intense online debate after revealing that her stepfather refused to pay for her wedding because she chose her biological father to walk her down the aisle.
In a detailed post shared online, the woman explained that although her stepfather had supported her financially for years, she still felt strongly about giving her biological father the traditional role during the ceremony.
According to her, the decision was not meant to disrespect her stepfather. She acknowledged that he had been present in her life, helping with school expenses, buying her a car and providing financial support whenever she needed it.
However, she said her biological father, despite being flawed and inconsistent, still holds a unique place in her life.
She added that her husband was the first person who suggested that her real father should walk her down the aisle, a comment that made her realise she might regret excluding him from such an important moment.
The woman said the situation escalated when her stepfather decided he would no longer pay for the wedding after learning about her decision.
She admitted she understood that he was hurt but insisted she was not trying to use him financially. According to her, she had simply grown accustomed to his support because he had always been there.
The disagreement has reportedly caused deeper family issues, with the woman revealing that her stepfather has since separated from her mother following the incident.
Despite the backlash she has received online, she maintained that she does not regret her decision, stressing that she only wanted both herself and her father to have that meaningful moment on her wedding day.
