Stop attacking lawyers spiritually – Barrister cries out

A Nigerian lawyer has made an emotional appeal to members of the public, urging them to stop directing spiritual attacks at legal practitioners over cases they are handling in court.

In a video circulating online, the barrister stressed that lawyers are simply professionals carrying out their duties on behalf of clients.

Lawyer urges aggrieved to direct anger on clients

He argued that if individuals have disputes with someone and the matter is before a court, any grievances should be directed at the opposing party rather than their legal representatives.

The lawyer expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend of people targeting attorneys spiritually through traditional or religious means because they are representing opposing sides in litigation.

He emphasized that lawyers only act based on instructions from clients and are paid for their services, adding that without such engagement, they would not be involved in the matter.

He said in part…

“If you have a problem with somebody and you people are in court, if you go to your dibia or your Juju, leave the lawyer out of it. Don’t be attacking the lawyer spiritually. The lawyer is just doing his job. Attack the person that you are having problems with in court. He is the one paying the lawyer. If he is not paying the lawyer, the lawyer will not be there. Why are you attacking lawyers spiritually? Please now…”
