Passengers on a packed easyJet flight from Luton to Glasgow were left in shock after a man stood up mid-flight and shouted that he had a bomb.
The 41-year-old man was arrested upon landing at Glasgow Airport after causing a major disturbance on flight EZY609, which took off at 7am on Sunday, July 28.
Dramatic footage of the incident, now under review by counter-terrorism police, shows the man near the rear of the aircraft yelling: “Stop the plane. Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump.” He also repeatedly shouted “Allahu Akbar,” meaning “God is the greatest” in Arabic.

Passengers quickly jumped into action. A man from row 21 tackled the suspect to the floor, with another passenger helping to restrain him.
One was heard saying firmly, “Sit down, don’t move,” as others questioned the man about his bag, whether he had a bomb, and if he had consumed alcohol or drugs.

“Why did you say you wanted to bomb this plane?” one passenger asked, while others frantically searched the man’s pockets, wallet, and body for any threats. His identification was recovered, and a woman nearby could be heard crying while speaking to a loved one on the phone.
Upon landing at around 8:20am, Police Scotland officers boarded the aircraft and arrested the man, who remained lying in the aisle.
An officer was heard telling him, “You’re calm now, are you going to be calm when I stand you up?” to which the man replied, “I’m calm now.”
As he was escorted off, the man asked for his phone and wallet, prompting angry responses from fellow passengers. One quipped, “It’s like a comedy sketch,” capturing the surreal tension of the moment.
In a statement, easyJet said:
“Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard. Our crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers are not compromised. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always our highest priority.”
Police Scotland confirmed the man remains in custody as enquiries continue.
“At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved. We are aware of videos circulating online, and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers,” a police spokesperson said.
