Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes the Arsenal forward has not shown the form required to make Roy Hodgson’s current side
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has questioned why Theo Walcott is in England’s latest squad.
The 27-year-old has struggled to find form this season and was left on the bench in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Everton before the international break.
Nevertheless, Roy Hodgson picked Walcott for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and Netherlands, but Fowler insists the forward is not in the squad based on merit.
“If form is being rewarded, as it is for Danny Drinkwater, I’m not sure what Theo Walcott is doing in the squad,” Fowler wrote in his column for The New Day.
“He’s not scoring for Arsenal so is clearly picked for what he’s done in the past.”
