They were massacred for refusing to succumb to a converted form of Islamic doctrine- Kwara gov says, Abdulrahman AbdulRasaq, says

The Governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has confirmed the recent attack which took place in Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, February 3 and according to him, 75 persons were killed in the att@ck.

The terrorists stormed the villages at about 6pm and carried out massive destruction including setting the King’s palace on fire. 

While speaking during a visit to the Emir of Kaiama on Wednesday, January 4, Governor AbdulRasaq, said that the villagers were mass@cred for refusing to surrender to the extremists.  According to him, the villagers refused to succumb to a converted form of Islamic doctrine.

‘’I commiserate with you over the death of 75 of your subjects. Your emirate versatile and from information we are getting, this village refused to succumb to a converted form of Islamic doctrine. 

They are nine under your emirate, abiding by the Islamic faith and basically did not want any alteration to the Hadith, pray to God pray to Allah and because they refused a change in doctrine and faith, they were att@cked and massacred. It is different from what we used to see when subjects were k!dnapped for ransom but this was just a pure m@ssacre and must be condemned ” he told the Emir and others during his address

Meanwhile a US-based Nigerian professor of Journalism, Farooq Kperogi, says villagers of the communities claim that the terrorists carried out the attack because their village head had alerted security agents of a letter the terrorists had written to them informing them of plans to come preach to them. Farooq said the village head who felt uneasy immediately after receiving the letter, alerted the security agents. He said somehow the terrorists got wind that the village head had alerted the security agents and in anger, stormed the village to carry out the att@ck. 

‘’I am using the last ounce of energy left in me to type this. A rural community in Kwara State’s Kaiama Local Government, which is a close geographic, consanguineal, historical and cultural cousin to my own Baruten Local Government, is bleeding from an unspeakably sanguinary terrorist assault that has so far claimed the lives of at least 170 people, and counting.

People familiar with what happened in the village of Woro in Kaiama Local Government said the bloodbath started yesterday evening and continued into the morning hours of today.

The trigger for the mass massacre was the decision by the district head of the village, by the name of Alhaji Salihu Umar, to inform authorities of a letter the community received from the terrorists stating that they would be coming to preach in the village at an unspecified date.

The village head suspected that the terrorists, known to locals as Mamuda, were up to no good, so he did what all law-abiding people would do: report to the security forces.

It turned out, however, that the terrorists appeared to have informants among the security forces the village head reported to. At least that’s what the people believe.

The terrorists were incensed that the village head had the temerity to report them to the security forces and decided to go on a mass murdering spree in retaliation. It’s not the first time the Mamuda terrorists have done such a thing in that community.

They not only murdered, they also burned homes and kidnapped people, using the personal SUV of the village head, whose whereabouts are still unknown as of the time of writing.
