Thieves cut and steal cables laid on Abuja rail line

Some thieves in Abuja are currently threatening the early completion of the Abuja light rail line as they have begun to dig and cut out some already laid down cable on the rail line. Unknown persons have been digging up and carting away communication cables buried along the rail tracks.
Confirming the sad development, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Musa Bello, said
“Cables are being vandalized. Two weeks ago, vandals dug out cables and cut them off. The protection of the facilities is a responsibility of everyone. The government could not do alone. We have deployed members of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) along the tracks and in the city‘’ he said. The Abuja light rail project is expected to be completed by December 31st 2017 and when completed, would help ease the burden of transportation in Abuja and it’s neighboring states.
