Tinubu is not telling Nigerians the truth – Sule Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of not being transparent with Nigerians about the true state of the nation under his administration.

Speaking on the BBC Hausa program Gane Mini Hanya, Lamido also leveled similar accusations against former President Muhammadu Buhari, asserting that both leaders relied on propaganda rather than addressing the country’s realities openly.

“Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments are not being transparent with Nigerians unlike during the time when PDP was in power where everything was transparent and open to all Nigerians,” Lamido said.

“But with the coming of Buhari, deception and propaganda became tools for running the government,” he added.

 The former governor criticized President Tinubu’s recent loan requests, questioning their rationale in light of what he described as contradictory budgetary claims.

“If Nigerians are being told the truth then there is nothing wrong with that, but how would you budget N30tn, generate N50tn and then request a loan when you have a surplus of N20tn?” he asked, referencing last year’s budget.

Lamido went on to condemn what he termed as “recklessness and clear-cut selfishness” in the government’s financial management.

“This recklessness and clear-cut selfishness is not done anywhere in the world, but yet you find (some) Nigerians supporting it. Visit social media and see how APC is being criticised, being referred to as calamity, yet you find some protecting it,” he added.
