Christian Eriksen has addressed Manchester United’s recurring issue after their disappointing 3-2 loss to
Galatasaray on Tuesday.
Despite taking the lead twice at Old Trafford, the Red Devils conceded three goals, marking their
second Champions League group stage defeat, and their fifth in seven games across all competitions.
United’s New signing Rasmus Hojlund scored twice for the host, but they couldn’t hold onto their lead for
long in the match.
Galatasaray also missed a second-half penalty, which was awarded when Casemiro fouled Dries Mertens
and was subsequently sent off.
However, Mauro Icardi who had earlier missed a penalty, capitalized on another opportunity chipping the
ball past United goalkeeper Andre Onana for the winning goal.
In a post-match comment, Eriksen expressed his frustration at Manchester United’s recurring problems
since start of the new season.
He said, “I think we had some good spells in the game, but at the moment when we go ahead, we always
seem to concede shortly after. Of course, that makes it very difficult for us to keep control of the game,
and that’s something that we have to change very quickly.”
The Danish midfielder also denied rumours that lapses in the team is on account of poor confidence, he
rather attributed it to “lack of awareness and sharpness” in crucial moments.
He added that Manchester United are making the wrong decisions at the wrong times. “We shouldn’t be
throwing that away, and we’ve done that in other games this season. So I don’t think it’s a lack of
confidence; we’re just making the wrong decisions at the wrong times, and it’s costing us.”
