A UK-based Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after sharing his excitement over picking up a free items from the street.
The man, who has previously faced criticism for collecting items left outside, said people often assume he doesn’t work because of it.
“Today I am so excited. A lot of people have been asking if I don’t work because I’m always picking things on the street. Some even asked if I was cursed, but God has shamed you all,” he said.
He explained that the latest item he picked was something he once couldn’t afford, making the moment even more meaningful.
According to him, he had previously wanted to buy a sinmilar item but couldn’t afford the £5 price, only to later find one for free.
“I just picked this dustbin now. When I wanted to buy it, they told me to pay £5 and I couldn’t afford it. Today again, as I was coming back from work, I saw this clean fridge.
The write-up said, ‘Free-working fridge, free to take. Still working perfectly.’ See how clean it is, it still even has ice inside, meaning it’s working,” he added.
He also took the opportunity to respond to those who mocked him, insisting that there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of free items abroad.
“You all that have been shaming me that I don’t work, I hope you can see that God doesn’t sleep,” he concluded.
His story has sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising his resourcefulness while others continue to debate the culture of picking free items abroad.
