UPDATE: Iheanacho, Ndidi Miss Out On UCL Qualification As Chelsea Pip Leicester In Top Four Race

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi once again will not be in the Champions League, after Leicester lost 4-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the campaign as Chelsea and Liverpool picked the two final slots.

Leicester needed to beat Spurs and hope Liverpool and Chelsea slip up in their games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.

Chelsea lost 2-1 at Villa Park leaving their destiny out of their own hands, but Leicester’s defeat against Spurs meant Brendan Rodgers’ side missed out on European football’s premier club competition by a solitary point.

It leaves the Foxes in the Europa League, where they join West Ham who secured a sixth-placed finish by beating Southampton 3-0 at the London Stadium.

Spurs win will see them feature in the inaugural Europa Conference League following their seventh place finish.

Last season’s champions Liverpool secured qualification for the Champions League after a 2-0 win against Palace.

At the Etihad, it was not the best of season ending for Alex Iwobi’s Everton as they were hammered 5-0 by champions Manchester City.

Argentine striker Sergio Aguero signed off his time at City with a brace after coming on.

Going into Sunday’s final day fixture, Everton were in the running for European qualification.

Iwobi was brought on in the 57th minute for Abdoulaye Doucoure but could not prevent his side from the heavy defeat.

Spurs striker Harry Kane emerged top scorer in the league, his third becoming only the third player to win the award as many as three times, after Thierry Henry  (four) and Alan Shearer  (three).

And in other final day fixtures, Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0, Leeds United defeated West Brom 3-1, Fulham lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle, Sheffield United pipped Burnley 1-0, Southampton were thrashed 3-0 at West Ham United and Manchester United edged Wolves 2-1 away.
