US-based Nigerian businessman found dead in Lagos hotel

A Nigerian businessman based in the United States of America, Onyejekwe Izuchukwu, has been found dead in a hotel in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

The 62-year-old businessman, who was said to have checked into the hotel on June 7, 2024, died on June 9, 2024. 

Izuchukwu, the President of Bits and Drilling Tools, a division of Schlumberger, reportedly came into Nigeria for a business transaction. 

He was reportedly found on the floor of his hotel room by a cleaner at about 7pm on June 9, 2024.

The Assistant Chief Security Officer of the hotel reported the development to the police.

The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Izuchukwu’s death.

Hundeyin said: “Izuchukwu was found lifeless on the floor of the hotel room. 

“A doctor confirmed him dead and his corpse has been deposited in a morgue in Ikeja for autopsy. 

“The command has commenced an investigation into the case.”
