The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) generated N700 million within just three weeks of operations.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at St. James’ Anglican Church in Asokoro, Abuja — held to mark the completion of projects commissioned by President Bola Tinubu — Wike contrasted this with the previous management of the facility, which paid only N50 million annually to the federal government.
Wike criticized the former operator, saying: “The man who was running the ICC is from Adamawa, and he was paying 50 million Naira to the government every year. These are the people who say they want to rescue Nigeria.”
He recounted how President Tinubu, upon visiting the centre, described it as an “eyesore” and unbefitting of Nigeria’s image. According to Wike, the facility was shut down and rehabilitated within six to seven months.
He highlighted the swift turnaround saying: “But in just three weeks since reopening, we have realized over N700 million.”
The thanksgiving service also celebrated Tinubu’s 19-day commissioning tour of key projects executed under Wike’s leadership in the FCT, marking the president’s second year in office.
