While UEFA consider postponing Euro 2020, there are also doubts over whether this summer’s Copa America will take place.
The tournament is scheduled to be played in Argentina and Colombia between June 12 and July 12, but the Coronavirus outbreak has thrown the footballing calendar up in the air.
As far as MARCA understand, CONMEBOL, South America’s governing body, don’t currently have a plan B for the tournament.
The situation with Coronavirus in South America isn’t currently as serious as in other parts of the world like Europe, but measures have been implemented to stop the spread.
Ecuador, Paraguay and almost the whole of Argentina have put their football matches behind closed doors.
When it comes to the Copa America, they could follow UEFA’s lead, who are considering postponing Euro 2020 until the following summer.
The only problem with that is that FIFA are planning to hold the first extended Club World Cup in the summer of 2021 too, with 24 teams taking part.
Next summer also sees the Gold Cup take place in North America.
