Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the return of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Atiku said it was good to see that justice had finally been done with the reopening of Natasha’s Senate office.
He noted that although the people of Kogi Central had lost valuable time in the Senate, the struggle was not in vain. According to him, it showed once again that unity can defeat oppression.
He wrote; “Though the precious time denied the people of Kogi Central in the Senate can never be reclaimed, this struggle has not been in vain. It has proven, once again, that when we stand together, we can triumph over tyranny.”
Atiku also spoke about the suspension of Governor Simi Fubara, lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly, and Senator Natasha herself.
He said these were not random acts but part of the Tinubu administration’s plan to weaken democracy and silence the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
He wrote; “The suspension of Governor Simi Fubara and lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the unlawful suspension of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the weaponisation of state institutions to harass and intimidate opposition voices are not isolated acts.
“They are deliberate markers of the Tinubu administration’s strategy as 2027 approaches: to subvert our hard-earned democracy and compromise the will of the people at any cost.”
He stressed that he and his allies would continue to defend democracy and protect the will of the people through all legal means.
