Wike’s aide debunks reports of minister collapsing in Abuja

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports claiming that his principal collapsed in Abuja.

Rumors circulating on X (formerly Twitter) alleged that Wike slumped at an event on Friday and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

However, when contacted by DAILY POST, Olayinka refuted the claim, calling it “fake”.

The false report comes at a time of heightened political tension in Rivers State, following the ongoing power struggle between the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and Wike, his former political ally.

On Friday, the crisis deepened when the former Head of Service in the state, George Nwaeke, made fresh allegations against Fubara, further escalating the political face-off.

Despite the circulating rumors, Wike’s camp has maintained that the Minister remains healthy and active.
