I’ve really put my nails under a lot of strain with the constant nail extensions with little to no breaks and the end result is brittle, dry, cracked nails. For this reason I have had to put a temporary halt on getting nail extensions so that I can grow out the cracks in my nails and my manicurist assures me this can be done successfully with gel polish, so my nails don’t have to remain bare.
According to him gel polish makes my your nails stronger and provides your nails a protective layer, giving them a chance to grow a bit longer granting you enough time to grow out your damaged nails.
However, to add a little excitement to my 3 weeks of gel polish wear I decided not to opt for any ordinary gel polish colour but rather a gel polish colour that transitions from one colour to another. I bet you’re wondering how on earth I managed that?
Well this is all possible with a pot of thermal gel polish; the gel polish colour transitions from light to dark depending on the temperature.
I was so fixated on how this would turn out that I failed to take pictures of the polish and note down the name of the brand. Luckily colour changing polish has been trending for the past few years now so most brands will have a collection of thermal gel polish you can pick from.
Here’s how my thermal gel polished worked
The base colour is a creamy white, so whenever the temperature was hot my nails would remain this colour.
I noticed that when it was cold, for example if I was sitting in a room with the air conditioning on full blast or when I would run my hand under a cold water the polish would change to a bright fushia pink purple which is the final colour change.
My nails go light pink when it’s not too cold and at times while it’s in the middle of transitioning it gets stuck in between all three colours (white, pink and purple) and ends up having that ombre or marble effect look.
