“You should be ashamed yourself if you cannot speak your native language” – Nigerian man says



A pharmacist, using the Twitter handle @MrMekzy and recognized as an influencer on the platform X, has criticized Nigerians who, as adults, cannot speak their native language.

Expressing his views in a tweet, he finds it perplexing that mature individuals who were born and raised in Nigeria lack proficiency in their indigenous languages.

Proficient in three Nigerian languages—Igbo, Hausa, and Efik—the pharmacist attributes the language deficiency to a conscious choice, asserting that adults who claim they were not taught simply lacked interest in learning.

In his words;

“I find it really weird that adults, born and raised in Nigeria cannot speak their language. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to speak your language as an adult. It’s nothing to be proud of
