Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has said he hopes fellow Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira, shines at his new club Arsenal, but not when he plays against him[Bruno].

Arsenal made Vieira their first major transfer of the summer last week as the midfielder joined from Porto in a deal worth £34million.

Vieira, who plays the same position (attacking midfielder) like Fernandes does at Manchester United and Portugal, scored six goals and provided 14 assists for Porto last season.

Despite being in the camp of the rivals, Fernandes wants Vieira to succeed at Arsenal, describing him as a player with ‘a lot of quality,’ to shine for the Gunners, but not when he comes up against the Red Devils.

“I hope he can shine to the fullest, except against me,” Fernandes told reporters in Portugal.

“Fábio has a lot of quality and has been demonstrating that. He has had good numbers and good performances.

“I hope he succeeds like all the Portuguese out there. I hope that Fábio manages to be as good as possible, despite waiting to stay ahead.”
