“You’re supposed to protect people” — Foreign man cries out after alleged police brutality in Nigeria

A foreign citizen has raised alarm after allegedly experiencing police brutality in Nigeria, claiming he was detained and nearly extorted at a police station.

In a video circulating online, the man appeared emotional as he recounted the incident, alleging that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) tried to detain him and demand money because of his skin colour.

He also claimed the officer threatened to escalate the matter by calling the Commissioner of Police when he resisted.

At one point, he was heard saying, “You will go international. You’re supposed to protect people,” while expressing shock over how he was allegedly treated.
