has stirred outrage by blaming the late Afrobeats pioneer and activist, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, for his own death.
In a recent interview on the popular podcast Echoo Room with media personality Quincy Jonze, Portable claimed that Fela died prematurely because he “did not mind his business.”
The interview, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Portable criticizing the legendary musician and activist for dedicating his life to fighting for the rights of Nigerians.
According to Portable, Fela’s activism cost him his life.
“According to what we were told, if Fela had minded his business a little, he would have lived longer. But he was busy fighting for Nigerians wey no fight for themselves,” Portable said, referring to Fela’s outspoken stance against military regimes and social injustice in Nigeria.
In the same interview, Portable addressed his ongoing feud with rapper Zlatan Ibile, calling him the “devil” responsible for the misunderstanding between him and Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The singer explained that he was focused on building connections with international artistes in America when the fallout occurred.
“I was in America looking for foreign artistes. I was busy displaying my madness online when Davido called me to come. Me and Davido did not quarrel until when the devil Zlatan came,” Portable claimed.
