We should allow our children to enjoy FG’s feeding programme – Ogunlewe Says

We should allow our children to enjoy FG’s feeding programme – Ogunlewe Says

Lagos – A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister of Works,Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, has lauded the Federal Government’s commencement of its ‘Home Grown School Feeding Programme,’ for 5.5 million pupils by September.

Ogunlewe made the commendation on the sidelines of the Graduation Ceremony of 130 students of Free Computer Training Programme organised by a Lagos Lawmaker, Mr Olusola Sokunle, in Lagos.

Ogunlewe, said that ‘a meal a day’ programme was laudable, however, said that such should not be politicised.

“After elections, there is no party again; the elected representatives at both the federal and state levels should run the government for all Nigerians irrespective of party affiliations.

“Immediately the Federal Government starts to feed 5.5 million pupils once every day in their schools, they (the Federal Government) will not classify children of PDP from APC.

“The Federal Government wants to feed Nigerian children; we should allow our children to enjoy it. We should not politicise it at all.

“The more we politicise it, the more it will be difficult to be implemented,” the former minister. He said
He also urged the Government to ensure installation of computers in all schools to further improve quality of education.

According to him, such step will make students to compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.

“Without education, there is no country. We don’t even need oil; we don’t need any minerals, education is enough to move the country forward.

“Every Nigerian child must be able to have access to computer. Teaching of computer must be made compulsory in schools from primary school to university.”

According to him, every school child across levels of education in South Africa has access to computer and this has helped the country to move forward in education.

Ogunlewe said that more development would come to education if Nigerian students had access to computer and motivated teachers.
He urged all elected representatives under the platforms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure they impacted the lives of the people in their constituencies.

The PDP stalwart expressed the belief that all Nigerians should enjoy dividends of democracy.
