The Super Eagles of Nigeria will know their opponent in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying play-offs in January, Completesports reports.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) who revealed this during their Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt on Friday, picked January 26 for the draw.
The draw was initially billed for December 18, but it has now been shifted for a month.
The ten group winners from the second round of qualifying will face each other in a home and away tie to determine the five African countries that will be at the World Cup.
The January FIFA rankings will also be used to determine the seeds as opposed to the November rankings.
The Eagles are one of the ten group winners and should be among the top seeds as they are currently ranked fifth on the continent.
Meanwhile, there is the possibility of the Eagles playing their home futures away from home after CAF ruled that VAR will be used in the play-offs.
The football body added that any country that does not have VAR facilities installed would be forced to play its home game at an away ground that has the facility.
