2023 Polls: Man, Wife And Sister Perish In Bauchi Auto Crash While Returning Home After Voting

A man, his wife and sister lost their lives in an accident in Bada Romo village in Ganguwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The fatal crash occurred around 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the crash in a statement on Sunday, said the accident involved one articulated vehicle with number plate ABS620XA and a private Focus Saloon car with plate number AG999JRE.

Abdullahi said the accident could be blamed on wrongful overtaking, adding that it took the personnel of the corps about 10 minutes to clear the crash scene.

According to him, six persons were involved in the road crash and there were four male adults and two female adults. Three people including two female adults and a male adult lost their lives on the spot

“Three other persons involved in the crash were unscathed,” he said.

Abdullahi added that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for identification, while items and vehicles involved were handed to the Police in the state.

He, however, charged motorists to always be conscious of traffic rules and regulations while playing the roads.

Meanwhile, the victims have been identified as Usman Alhassan (Babayo) the Customer Care Manager of Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation, his wife and his sister.

It was gathered that the trio had travelled to their village in Ningi Local Government Area of the state to participate in the election and were returning back to their base when the accident happened.
