The 14thof February has been tagged the most romantic day of the year. A day when you get to show that special person why they are special to you.
For some people, it is a day when they are miserable and lonely and don’t want to get up from bed. But we are not here for them…we are here for you… trying to decide on a wedding date and seriously contemplating whether you should do it on Valentine’s day or not.
We have weighed the pros and cons, and want you to decide which side you are on…To get married on Valentine’s Day or not.

Pros
Valentine’s Day carries a great message behind it. Legend has it that the day was named after St. Valentine, a priest who was persecuted, imprisoned and killed because he performed weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. Apparently, in the early days, men were forbidden to get married so that the can focus on being soldiers and fighting battles, and the King figured love was a big distraction they could not afford.
Father Valentine, being the huge romantic that he was, secretly joined these people in marriage, and was persecuted for it.
For the romantic at heart and those people who love a good Romantic movie with cheesy lines, Valentine’s day is the best wedding day for you. The story behind the day is as cheesy as they come, and it is a pretty good story to tell your kids.
Also, there is almost no way your significant other will forget your anniversary…..apart from exceptional cases. So if you are big on dates and anniversaries, what better day to get married than the day of love?
Cons
A huge disadvantage of getting married on Valentine’s day is that you get to receive only one gift for your wedding anniversary/valentine’s day celebration because ain’t nobody got time for that. People who are big on receiving gifts may not like this so much, so it may not be a good choice for you.
Also, your friends may have had other plans for their Valentine’s Day celebrations….plans that don’t include you, and they will have to be forced to disrupt their plans and attend your wedding. Put yourself in their shoes for a minute, and think about if you would mind. If you won’t mind attending a friend’s wedding on Valentine’s day, by all means put yours on the 14thof February.
Getting married on Valentine’s Day is a bit cliché and not so unique. For those people who love pulling pranks and surprises, getting married on Valentine’s day is a bit expected….In retrospect, your friends will be surprised you did not pull a prank on them.
All cons aside, I personally feel it is a sweet thing to get married on Valentine’s Day. Not everytime form hardcore….sometimes be cheesy and romantic, and add spice to your relationship.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
