Abia poly student drowns in Umuahia river

A student of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, identified as Chidera Kenneth Ogwuru, has drowned in Umuchime River in Ossah Ibeku in Umuahia Local Government Area of the state. 

It was gathered that the student drowned while swimming with some of his friends on Saturday, November 18, 2023. 

According to one Comrade Ugorji Kalu, the deceased did not know the depth and tide of the river before jumping in to swim. 

Kalu said by the time his friends noticed he was drowning, it was already too late. 

The student who hailed from Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area of the state, was said to be the only son of his parents.
