Afenifere Leaders Visit Ooni Of Ife Over Yoruba-Hausa Clash (Photos)

Earlier today, Afenifere leaders alongside Senator Iyiola Omisore visited the Palace of the Ooni of Ife where they paid his Imperial Majesty a condolence visit following the recent crisis that engulfed the ancient city. The leaders also used the opportunity to sue for peace and chart a way forward for the sustenance of a peaceful coexistence in the city.

Speaking during the visit, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II cautioned politicians not to use the recent communal clash between Hausa and Yoruba in Sabo area of the town to score political points and divide the populace.

The monarch noted that the crisis which took an ethnic outlook should not be turned into an avenue to gain cheap popularity and influence.

According to the traditional ruler, efforts of the Afenifere to fight for the course of Yoruba on the issue is commendable but should be pursued diligently so as not to inflate the situation.
