Real Madrid captain, Karim Benzema, has revealed that he’s not angry with the decision of PSG star, Kylian Mbappe to have snubbed the La Liga champions.

Benzema, however, admitted he wanted his compatriot to join him in the Spanish capital.

Mbappe was widely expected to sign for the LaLiga champions as a free agent this summer.

But the 23-year-old opted to commit to PSG for another three years, sparking outrage among some figures in La Liga.

But Benzema told Canal+: “It was a long year for him, he had to decide.

“It’s his choice, I wish him the best although, as I said before, I would have liked him to play at Real Madrid.”

He continued to Movistar+: “I prefer not to talk. I’m not angry, I can just tell you that I’m focused on the Champions League final [against Liverpool on Saturday] which is more important than listening to anything else.

“Now is not the time to talk about these little things.”

Benzema’s Style of play

A creative, skillful, quick, agile, and prolific forward, who is good in the air and capable of playing off the shoulders of the last defender, Benzema has been described as an “immensely talented striker” who is “strong and powerful” and “a potent finisher from inside the box” with either foot, as well as his head, despite being naturally right footed. He is considered to be one of the best strikers of his generation, with his Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti describing him “the best striker in the world” in 2021.

An atypical number 9, although he is usually deployed as a centre forward, and can operate as an out-and-out striker, Benzema is also capable of playing in several other offensive positions, and has been used on the wing, or even as a playmaker behind the main striker, either in the number 10 role as an attacking midfielder, or as a deep-lying forward. In addition to his goalscoring, Benzema is known for his willingness and ability to drop into deeper or wider positions, and either link-up play with midfielders, or use his strength and technical ability to hold up the ball with his back to goal to provide assists for teammates, courtesy of his vision, creativity, passing, and eye for the final ball; his playing style led one commentator to describe him as a “nine and a half”.
