“Book-a-thon” – Nigerian man approved by Guinness World Records begins 145-hour reading marathon

The journey of Nigerian man John Obot to break the Guinness World Record for continuous reading has officially commenced.

Obot, fueled by a passion for literature and a determination to make his mark on the world, has embarked on an awe-inspiring endeavor to read for an astonishing 145 hours.

Currently situated at Watbridge Hotel and Suites in Uyo, his endeavor has drawn the attention and support of a captivated audience of local communities and book enthusiasts.

Having received official approval from the Guinness World Records organization, Obot assumed his position in a well-lit room, standing against a pristine white background.

Equipped with a microphone to meticulously record every uttered word, he began his arduous journey to make his mark in history.

What sets this record-breaking attempt apart is not just the duration of reading but also the diverse array of books that Obot has set out to conquer.

As he turned the pages and spoke the words aloud, he gently swiveled in his chair, keeping a steady rhythm.

Currently, the Guinness World Record for continuous reading is held by Rysbai Isakov from Kyrgyzstan, who achieved the remarkable feat of reading for 124 hours in 2022.
