Couple heartbroken as rain disrupts wedding ceremony, guests abscond

A Nigerian couple’s traditional wedding ceremony took an unexpected turn when a heavy rain disrupted the event, leading to an emotional and bittersweet day.

The incident, which was captured in a now-viral TikTok video posted by user @thevillagefamily2024, has stirred reactions across social media.

According to the TikTok user, the rain began just as the ceremony was about to start, forcing guests to leave the venue.

“Rain started falling when the traditional marriage was about to start 😢😢 all the guest left, it was an emotional day for the bride,” she captioned the video.

The video showed a waterlogged wedding venue with some of the decorations scattered or drenched.

The user added that the rain persisted throughout the ceremony, leaving the bride heartbroken as her big day unfolded in a way no one had planned.

While many sympathised with the couple, others viewed the rain as a sign of blessing, with many Nigerians traditionally believing that rain on a wedding day symbolises abundance and good fortune.
