The deputy national chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Bukar Dalori, today June 30, assumed office as the party’s acting national chairman.
This comes days after the immediate past chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje, resigned from office on health grounds.
President Bola Tinubu had directed Dalori to assume the position of acting national chairman of APC following Ganduje’s resignation.
Dalori is to hold sway as the party’s acting chairman pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to be in order to fill the vacancy created by Ganduje’s resignation.
The acting APC national chairman, on assumption of office on Monday, thereafter presided over the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party.
Dalori said his appointment was not a personal victory but a responsibility he embraced with full awareness of the challenges ahead and the expectations of millions of APC members and supporters across the nation.
He said the transition was a period for consolidation, not conflict, not division and for vision, not personal ambition, and solicited the support of the NWC members.
