Do Not Eat Looted Wheat Seeds – Perm sec Warns Jos Residents

Abdulkadir Mu’azu, the Permanent Sec of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has warned residents of Jos to desist from consuming the stolen wheat seeds looted from the warehouse because they were treated with agrochemicals.

The seeds were looted by citizens of the state who mistook them for COVID-19 palliatives.

Mu’azu said that the seeds worth millions of Naira are not fit for consumption because they have been treated with agrochemicals

He announced on Twitter:

“Today, hoodlums vandalised the National Agricultural Seed Council’s warehouse in Bukuru, Jos and looted wheat seeds worth millions of Naira. The wheat seed is not fit for human consumption as it has been treated with Agrochemicals. It is for planting!

“FMARD appeals to the general public not to consume the looted wheat seed. It is POISONOUS. JOS RESIDENTS ARE BEING ADVISED TO LOOK OUT FOR LOOTED WHEAT SEEDS AND AVOID CONSUMING THE SEED. BE WARNED!”
