EFCC Arrests Dada Olatunji, Ex-Fire Service Boss Over Employment Scam

– EFCC to charge two former Nigeria Fire Service men to court
– Two applicants, Robert Mathew and Theresa Abah files petition against the ex-fire service men
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested Dada Olatunji, the former assistant comptroller general of Nigeria Fire Service, for offences bordering on employment scam.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Wilson Uwujaren, the head of media and publicity of the commission, in Abuja on Thursday, March 24 and made available to NAN.
According to Uwujaren, Olatunji’s arrest followed a petition by two applicants, Robert Mathew and Theresa Abah.
EFCC has arrested Dada Olatunji, the former assistant comptroller general of Nigeria Fire Service, for offences bordering on employment scam
They had alleged that one Christopher Adaje, of the Nyanya office of the service, informed them in December 2014 that the Nigeria Fire Service were recruiting and promised to facilitate their employment.
Adaje promised he would do this before April 2015 if they could part with N350, 000 each.
“Matthew and Abah who were desperate to get employment but could not afford the said sum, resorted to soliciting for help from their friends and relations
“Eventually, Matthew was able to source his from a friend while Abah took a loan of N225, 000 from her friend.
“They raised N575, 000 and paid it into an account number supplied by Adaje in one of the old generation banks’’, Uwujaren said.
However, Adaje could not deliver on his promise months later, and this prompted Matthew and Abah to visit his office where they discovered it was a fraud.
According to Uwujaren, Adaje confessed that he was fronting for Olatunji whom he claimed the money was given to.
The EFCC spokesman disclosed that both Adaje and Olatunji would be charged to court soon.
Olatunji’s arrest comes just a month after the EFCC arrested Donald Chidi Amamgbo, a cousin to Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former minister of Petroleum.
Amamgbo, who is chief executive of Mezcor Oil and Gas limited, Tridax Oil and Gas Limited, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserved Limited, was arrested in Lagos state , following indications that he might have acted as front for Alison-Madueke, who granted him approval to lift Nigerian crude oil without any requisite experience.
