Fani-Kayode Lambasted On Social Media Over Multiple False Claims Against Peter Obi

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Femi Fani-Kayode has been bashed online after he made multiple false claims against the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The false claims were made when he appeared in an interview on TVC’s Politics tonight on January 6, 2023.

He had claimed Peter Obi ensured that Pentecostal Christians could not build churches during his administration in Anambra State, adding he discriminated against them.

In his words: “When he (Obi) was governor of Anambra state, he ensured that Pentecostal Christians could not even build churches, only Catholics. He discriminated”.

However, findings by the Centre for Democracy and Development West Africa and CDD Election War Room proved that FFK’s claims are untrue.

According to the fact-checkers, sources contacted in the state, including some pentecostal churches noted that they all thrived during the administration of Peter Obi as governor in Anambra.

Fani-Kayode also claimed that non-Igbo persons were not allowed to own a store in Anambra markets when Peter Obi was governor.

He said: “In Anambra state when he (Obi) was governor, no non-Igbo man could own a store in any of the markets there”.

Findings however show that the claim is false as checks revealed that non-Igbos owned stores in Anambra markets even during the administration of Peter Obi as governor of the State.
