Super Eagles invitee Zadok Yohanna is expected to be unveiled as a Brighton & Hove Albion player in the coming days, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 18-year-old has attracted significant interest from several top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, following his impressive performances for Swedish side AIK this year.
Yohanna only moved abroad from the Ikon Allah Academy in Nigeria to AIK last year, but his rise has been remarkable. The teenager has scored five goals and provided four assists across all competitions in 2026 and his performances have now earned him a move to one of the best leagues in the world.
Newcastle United had emerged as frontrunners for his signature after reportedly submitting an offer that matched AIK’s €30 million valuation. The Magpies were also prepared to integrate him directly into their first-team plans and offer him opportunities to feature in the Premier League.

Chelsea, Manchester City and RB Leipzig had also joined Brighton in the race for the Nigerian youngster, hoping to seal an agreement with AIK.
According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Brighton & Hove Albion have now reached a full agreement with AIK for the transfer of Nigerian youngster Zadok Yohanna.
The Seagulls had already agreed personal terms with the teenager earlier this week before Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester City intensified their interest, and had threatened to beat them to an agreement with the Swedish club.

Brighton have now won the race for Yohanna’s signature after agreeing a deal worth €30 million with AIK. The package is structured as a fixed fee of €28 million plus €2 million in performance-related add-ons and will see the Nigerian sign a five-year contract at the Amex Stadium, potentially keeping him at the club until 2030.
The transfer fee makes Yohanna the most expensive player ever sold by a Swedish club, surpassing the €20 million Tottenham Hotspur paid Djurgården for Lucas Bergvall in 2024. It also represents AIK’s biggest-ever sale, surpassing the €8.6 million received from Borussia Dortmund for Alexander Isak in 2017.

Brighton have beaten off competition from several European heavyweights to secure the teenager’s services, and an official announcement is expected once the final medical examinations have been completed.
Yohanna will now join the growing list of Nigerians playing in the Premier League and is set to become the sixth Nigerian to represent Brighton, taking the next big step in his career.
