“I will never conduct DNA test on my children” – Nigerian man explains why

A Nigerian man has sparked a discussion online after sharing his views on paternity disputes and DNA tests.

The man, who spoke in a video circulating on social media, said he would not seek a DNA test on children he had already accepted and raised as his own, even if there were allegations that another man was their biological father.

Man Shares His Position on DNA Tests

While discussing paternity fraud, the man said his relationship with a child would not change because of biological findings.

He explained that he would rather continue loving and caring for a child he had raised than subject the family to the possible emotional consequences of a DNA test.

He said:

“I do not pray for things like this to happen to me, I am saying it categorically: there is nothing in this world that would make me go and conduct a DNA on the kids that I already love.”

According to him, even if a test established that a child was biologically related to another man, he would still regard the child as his own.

He Recalls Acquaintance’s Paternity Experience

The man supported his position by recounting the experience of an acquaintance who reportedly discovered that a daughter born during his marriage was not biologically his.

According to him, the girl’s biological father later appeared at the family’s home and sought custody of the child.

Rather than pursuing a DNA test, the acquaintance reportedly decided to continue raising the girl and maintain his relationship with her.

The speaker said the man eventually included the child among the beneficiaries of his properties.

‘That Child Remains My Child’

Reflecting on the situation, the Nigerian man said he would make a similar choice if he ever found himself in such circumstances.

He said:

“If that child belongs to the other person, so be it but in my mind and till I go to heaven, that child remains my child.”

He added:

“Doing that DNA might cause greater damage.”
