I won’t throw away my marriage simply because my husband cheated or impregnated another woman – Nigerian lawyer says

A Nigerian lawyer, Stella Nnennaya, has laughed off the idea of divorcing her husband if he cheats or impregnates another woman.

In a Facebook post on Monday, August 31, the mother of two stated that she won’t throw away her marriage simply because her husband made a ‘terrible decision’.

According to her, there are more effective punishments for a cheating husband, and divorce isn’t one of them.

“Someone asked me: “Stella, what if your husband cheats on you or even impregnates another ^{woman? Will you divorce him?” she wrote.}

^{Me? Divorce my husband because he cheated or got another woman pregnant?} 

^{That will not even be the first thing that will cross my mind.} 

^{There are MANY ways to deal with a chêâting husband.} 

^{Divorce is not the only punishment available.} 

^{In fact, some punishments are so effective that the man will sit down and start asking himself:}

^{“Why did I do this thing?”} 

^{I believe marriage is bigger than one mistake, and I won’t throw away my marriage simply because my husband made a terrible decision.}

^{Forgiveness is possible. Reconciliation is possible. Consequences are also possible.}

^{But divorce?}

^{That would be the LAST thing on my mind.}
