The nomination of Balogun became necessary following the demise of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the last Olubadan of Ibadan land.

Senator Lekan Balogun has been nominated to fill the vacant position of the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
 
Balogun was nominated by some High Chiefs in Ibadan, the Oyo State.
 
Balogun, a doctor, is the current Otun of Ibadan land.
 
The nomination of Balogun became necessary following the demise of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the last Olubadan of Ibadan land.
 
Oba Adetunji joined his ancestors on January 2nd this year.
 
Balogun, who is one of the High Chiefs in Ibadan is the next in rank to the former Olubadan.
 
The High Chiefs who nominated Balogun on Thursday, are members of the Olubadan-in-council.
 
His nomination was done during a meeting held at the house of High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin.
 
Olakulehin is the Balogun of Ibadan land.
 
The meeting was attended by the host, High Chief Olakulehin and Balogun who is the current Otun of Ibadan land.
 
Others at the meeting were the Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Otun Balogun of Ibadanland High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, High Chief Eddy Oyewole Foko, High Chief Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe, High Chief Kolawole Adegbola, and High Chief Dada Ishioye.
