A Nigerian lady has sparked debate on social media after advising women not to accept relationship proposals from men who fail to make a grand effort when asking them out.
According to her, a proper proposal should include a decorated room, gifts, and intentional planning, adding that women should not settle for anything less.
In her words, she said:
“Ladies, henceforth, if a guy wants to ask you out and he cannot do a proper proposal, I mean a decorated room with lots of gifts, asking you to be his girlfriend, don’t accept.”
The lady argued that such gestures are the bare minimum and should be expected from men who are genuinely serious about pursuing a relationship.
She further encouraged women to reject men who are unwilling to put in the effort, insisting that doing so would leave room for more intentional partners.
“Do not accept because those are the bare minimum. And if they are not ready to do the bare minimum, let them move on to the next person,” she added.
According to her, women deserve partners who are capable, intentional, and willing to make them feel valued from the beginning of a relationship.
Many reactions have followed her statement. One user wrote, “Since when did asking someone out become a wedding proposal?” Another added, “Believe social media people at your own risk.”
The video has since generated mixed reactions online, with many debating whether elaborate girlfriend proposals should be considered a necessity or simply a personal preference.
