Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has declared operation zero potholes in the state.
The declaration is coming on the heels of media tour of the completed and ongoing sites in the state.
The governor has directed contractors handling the projects to work mostly in the night to ensure minimal disruption of traffic.
Also,
contractors handling some of the projects in the state have been given
between October and November to deliver the projects or risk sanctions.
This
is as the contractor handling Okpu – Umuobo – Mgboko Obingwa Road has
been directed to resume work immediately to ensure completion before the
end of first quarter of 2020.
The affected projects were Osisioma
Junction – MCC Junction of Aba – Owerri Road; Obikabia – Umuene Road;
Afo Ibeji Umuahia palliative work; Aba Road Umuahia; Osusu Road; Abiriba
– Nkporo Road.
While the state Ministry of Works has also been directed to execute extensive palliative maintenance work on Ururuka Road within 10 days to ensue free flow of traffic on all segments of the road, the contractor handling Osisioma flyover was directed to immediately commence sucking out the water at the road median preparatory to final phase of work on the project.
