Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has insisted that it is not right for the club to let wantaway forward Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club this season.

Ferdinand believes Ronaldo can guarantee goals every season for Man United, adding that the club cannot let him leave Old Trafford.

Ronaldo has already informed Man United that he wants to leave the club this summer after they failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, but the Red Devils are adamant he is not for sale.

But Ferdinand wants Erik ten Hag’s side to deal with the saga surrounding Ronaldo’s future at Man United.

“People are saying you have got to let Ronaldo go… Well, get someone in who can score 24-25 goals first,” Ferdinand told William Hill.

“Darwin Nunez has gone, Erling Haaland has gone and Robert Lewandowski has gone. They were the three players that you were thinking, “look, these are the only ones that you were going to go for that will outright come into the Manchester United team immediately.”

He added, “But they are gone. So Manchester United can’t let Ronaldo go. They can’t. Even if he’s begging to go, they just can’t let him go. It’s not the right thing to do, I don’t think.”
