Kenya has announced a new policy allowing citizens of nearly all African countries to visit without requiring prior authorization, according to a cabinet directive reported by the BBC.
A cabinet statement confirmed that the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement will be abolished for all African nations except Somalia and Libya, due to security concerns.
Under the new system, citizens of most African countries will be permitted to enter Kenya and stay visa-free for up to two months.
For members of the East African Community (EAC)—comprising Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi—the policy will extend their stay allowance to six months in alignment with the bloc’s regulations.
Although a specific timeline for implementation has not been set, Kenya plans to introduce an upgraded process that will allow instant travel approval, with a maximum processing time of 72 hours.
