Kidnapped Taraba Catholic priest regains freedom

A Catholic priest, Fr. Thaddeus Tarhembe, who was kidnapped in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State has regained freedom

The parish priest of St. Ann’s parish in Sarkin Kudi area of Ibi council within the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, was kidnapped from his residence in the early hours of Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Communications Director of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Rev. Fr. John Laike, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, October 30.

Fr. Laike said that the priest was released unhurt on Monday night, October 30.

Rev. Laike expressed gratitude to the public for their prayers and support during this challenging time in the life of their diocese.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Most Reverend Mark M. Nzukwein, also extended his appreciation to everyone who stood in solidarity and offered prayers for Fr. Tarhembe’s safe release.
