Lionel Messi is set to quit Barcelona at the end of next season when his contract expires, according to reports.

The report in Spanish radio Cadena Ser claimed that the club captain called off negotiations over renewing his contract with the current La Liga Champions and he is ready to entertain a move next year.

Messi has no desire to stay at the Camp Nou any longer as he is prepared tonally his trade elsewhere and ESPN report that the reason could be as a result of series of burst up within the club.

Messi is not excited bout leaked media reports that appeared to make him seem responsible for events at the club, after he is being accused of playing a role in the January sacking of coach Ernesto Valverde.

There were speculations that he is not happy with the quality of Barcelona squad and the signing of Antoine Griezmann has not done down well with the Barcelona star, Messi wants Neymar back at the club when the board decided to bring in the Frenchman.

Messi’s contract carried a clause which allows him to quit at the end of any season and it is thought that the Argentine superstar could only join a club outside Europe.

He could make a switch back to his childhood club Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.
