List of countries for FIFA 2030 Tournament Qualification

Six countries have already guaranteed their seats in the 2030 FIFA World Cup, with FIFA officially confirming the tournament’s unusual three-continent hosting arrangement.

The extended tournament will be hosted mostly by Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, with Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay staging special centenary commemoration matches to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the FIFA World Cup in 1930.

As a result of their respective continental confederations’ slot allotment, all six countries have already qualified for the FIFA 2030 tournament qualification finals.

The decision was formally ratified by all 211 FIFA Member Associations at an Extraordinary FIFA Congress conducted virtually in December 2024, marking the end of the governing body’s bidding process for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups.

Saudi Arabia has also been confirmed as the host country for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

Six nations already qualified for the 2030 FIFA World Cup

The countries guaranteed a place at the tournament are:

• Morocco
• Portugal
• Spain
• Uruguay
• Argentina
• Paraguay

Morocco, Portugal, and Spain will host the majority of the action, with 101 matches scheduled among the three countries.

Meanwhile, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will each host one opening-week encounter to commemorate FIFA’s centenary.

Why six countries will host the tournament

FIFA stated that the arrangement was intended to honor the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, staged in Uruguay in 1930.

Uruguay will hold the official centenary commemoration and ceremony in Montevideo, commemorating its role as both host and winner of the original tournament.

Argentina will host a match in honor of its role as runners-up in the 1930 competition, while Paraguay was chosen because it is home to CONMEBOL, South America’s football federation.

Following three ceremonial matches in South America, the tournament will go to Morocco, Portugal, and Spain for the official opening ceremony and the rest of the play.

Match schedule adjusted for travel
To accommodate the unusual six-country format, FIFA has confirmed that the tournament calendar will include extended rest and travel days for the six nations competing in the South American Centenary matches.

The opening celebratory games are scheduled for June 8 and 9, 2030, before the championship officially begins in Morocco, Portugal, and Spain on June 13 or 14.

The final is planned for July 21, 2030.
FIFA stated that the altered itinerary will remain within the existing international match calendar, implying that no additional release period would be necessary for players or clubs, despite the increased travel.
