Liverpool’s legends game against Barcelona has been postponed following the outbreak of coronavirus.

The match was set to be played at Anfield on Saturday 28th March during the international break.

But the Barca Legends side are unable to travel over to the UK at this time.

A rescheduled date will be announced by Liverpool in due course, with original tickets and bookings still valid.

All the proceeds from the game will be going to the LFC Foundation charity, which works to create life-changing opportunities for children and young people.

Matt Parish, LFC Foundation Director, said: “We would like to thank all those supporters who have purchased tickets for their understanding in this matter.

“Please hold on to your ticket and we look forward to seeing you at the game when we can rearrange it.

“Thanks to your generosity and continued support of the Foundation, these charitable games make a huge difference to the work we do and help us impact even more people.

“Through our community fund, £100k will be made available to local charities and community groups.

“In addition, funds also raised will be used to fund our partnership with Right To Play, which brings together two leaders in the fields of sport and play to benefit vulnerable children both at home and around the world, as well as enabling us to directly support even more children and young people across the Liverpool City Region through our own delivery.”

It was confirmed earlier today that 590 people in the UK have now tested positive for coronavirus, with two more deaths taking the number of people to die in UK hospitals up to 10.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson labelled the disease “the worst public health crisis for a generation” as he outlined the latest Government stance on sporting fixtures and dealing with coronavirus spread.
