Man, 21, Rapes Housewife, 35, On Her Way To Church Vigil

Man, 21, Rapes Housewife, 35, On Her Way To Church Vigil

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted and raped a housewife, 35, on her way to a church vigil.

Michael Adeshina, who resides at No.10 Toki Street in the Old Garage area of Ikotun, Lagos, targeted and accosted the victim late one evening on her way to a church vigil in the area, P.M. Express reports.

The suspect allegedly threatened his victim, took her to a dark spot, tore her underwear and forcefully penetrated her, even as the victim pleaded with him to have a change of heart.

It was gathered that the woman even went as far as offering up all her possessions to escape the inevitable outcome but the crazed rapist refused.

After forcefully having sex with her, the suspect went ahead to dispossess her of her belongings before letting her leave.

The woman didn’t continue her journey to church but returned home to report the incident to her husband.  The woman and her husband went to Ikotun Police Division the following morning and reported what happened. The victim also told the police that she will be able to identify the suspect.

When the police traced Adeshina, the woman – a mother – identified him as her attacker and he was arrested.

During investigation, the police discovered that Adeshina resides at the Old Garage where the incident happened and there had been incidences of criminal activities there in the past.

He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim. The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor asked that the matter be referred to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.

The matter was adjourned till 29th April, 2019 for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready.
