A man has shared an experience that ended a friendship after a visit to request financial assistance took an unexpected turn.
According to the account, the incident occurred two years ago when he was facing financial difficulties and approached a friend for a ₦50,000 loan.
The friend reportedly informed him that he was broke and did not have any money to lend.
However, events later that day left the visitor questioning the explanation he had received.
While the two men were talking, the friend’s girlfriend and her younger sister reportedly arrived at the house.
The friend then suggested that the group go out for a meal together.
At the restaurant, everyone ordered food, while the girlfriend and her sister also requested takeaways. According to the account, the total bill came to about ₦100,000, which the friend paid without hesitation.
The situation continued after the outing when the girlfriend requested money for her hair.
The man said his friend immediately transferred ₦45,000 to his girlfriend after she requested the money.
Upon returning home, he reminded his friend about the ₦50,000 loan he had initially requested.
Responding to the reminder, the friend said:
“How can you be asking me for that kind of money after I’ve spent so much today? I already told you I don’t have it.”
The man said he left immediately after hearing the response and never returned.
The story has generated reactions online, with many social media users debating whether the issue was about a lack of money or a matter of personal priorities.
Others said the incident highlighted how financial expectations can sometimes strain friendships and alter long-standing relationships.
