Manchester United have joined the race to land 21-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion star Tariq Lamptey in January, Fichajes reports.

A €3.3 million acquisition from Chelsea in the winter of 2020, the talent has been a major revelation in the Seagulls side over the past couple of seasons. The Englishman has notched up 26 first-team appearances for his team, emerging as one of the country’s brightest prospects in the right-back role.

He had missed a major chunk of last campaign due to a hamstring injury. But Tariq has returned to full fitness and has made an impression with his consistent showings in the Premier League with his team.

His arrival may allow the Red Devils to finally sell Diogo Dalot in the upcoming transfer market. The Portuguese star was linked with a summer switch to Borussia Dortmund and is also on the radar of Roma.

However, Ralf Rangnick’s side are expected to face stern competition from domestic rivals Arsenal in the pursuit of the player.
