Manchester United is set to have a huge goalkeeping dilemma in the summer as Everton and Premier League new boys Leeds are reportedly set to battle it out for the signature of goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

The Argentine looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer, despite the uncertainty surrounding current No.1 David De Gea.

And Romero will have offers to stay in the top flight from both Everton and Leeds, according to ESPN.

The Toffees are said to be on the lookout to sign competition for Jordan Pickford in goal, while Leeds are set to bolster their ranks after finally achieving their aim of getting back to the English top flight.

Romero, who has been capped 96 times by Argentina, is under contract with United until 2021 and the club hold an option to extend his deal for an additional 12 months thereafter.

But the 33-year-old is understood to now being looking for more first team opportunity, with a highly impressive record between the sticks.

Romero boasts remarkable stats of 38 clean sheets in 59 games since arriving at Old Trafford in 2015 from Monaco.

In recent weeks the Argentine was snubbed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who took him out of United’s FA Cup team for the semi-final showdown against rivals Chelsea.

Romero had featured in the run of the games up until the final four, before De Gea was reinstated in his place as United made their bid to make the showpiece.

Yet two glaring mistakes from the Spaniard cost United heavily in the match, as Chelsea took a 3-1 victory and booked their place against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the final.

United are now expected to assess their goalkeeping options for next season, with the returning Dean Henderson hoping for a chance in the senior team following a hugely successful loan spell with Sheffield United.
